Volvo Car Malaysia has added a ruggedised, all-wheel-drive version of its locally assembled EX30, pitched at RM218,888 and good for 0–100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

The Cross Country carries a badge Volvo has been using since the 1990s, when the V70 wagon was given raised suspension and body cladding for rougher going. This is the first time the treatment has been applied to a fully electric model in Malaysia, and it arrives a year after the standard EX30 went on sale here in September 2025. Like that car, the Cross Country is assembled locally.

The key mechanical difference is underneath. Where the standard EX30 makes do with a single motor, the Cross Country adds a second one to drive the front axle, taking combined output to 315 kW (428 hp) and 543 Nm across all four wheels. That’s enough for a 3.7-second sprint to 100 km/h, with top speed governed to 180 km/h. Ground clearance is raised to 190 mm and the body rides on 19-inch wheels wrapped in 235/50R19 tyres.

Energy comes from a 69 kWh NMC battery with a claimed range of 437 km. On a 175 kW DC charger, 10–80 percent takes 27 minutes; a full charge from an 11 kW AC wallbox needs around 8 hours. At 4,233 mm long on a 2,650 mm wheelbase, the EX30 Cross Country remains a compact five-seater, with a 5.5-metre turning radius and a 1,960 kg kerb weight.

Suspension is by MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear, with ventilated discs at both ends and rack-and-pinion electric power steering. Safety equipment runs to seven airbags and a camera-and-radar ADAS suite. The model has not been rated by ASEAN NCAP.
