Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the locally assembled Volvo EX90 Ultra at RM428,888, replacing the CBU model introduced in 2025 and undercutting it by RM14,000.
The CKD car isn’t just cheaper. It moves to an 800-volt electrical architecture, improving overall system efficiency and cutting DC charging time to 22 minutes for 10–80 percent on a 350 kW charger. A full AC charge on an 11 kW wallbox takes about 10 hours.
The 106 kWh battery delivers a claimed 617 km. Dual motors produce 500 kW (680 hp) and 870 Nm through all four wheels, good for 0–100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a capped 180 km/h — while seating seven.
Air suspension is standard, over double wishbones front and an integral link rear, on 21-inch wheels with 295/40R21 tyres. Safety runs to six airbags and Volvo’s camera-and-radar ADAS suite. ASEAN NCAP has yet to rate the local car.
