Now Chery will no longer use the OMODA name for its popular SUV model (of which there are over 13,500 units on Malaysian roads). It is now designated as just 05 and the move is also being done in other markets.
A highlight of the 05 and a big change is the rear suspension layout which is multi link. This upgrade, which allows each rear wheel to move independently, is a significant change from the previous torsion beam set-up. Independent movement of the wheels not only improves ride comfort but more importantly, enhances driving dynamics. The wheels can follow the road undulations better so there’s good stability, especially when cornering.
